Forest Playgroup at Houghton Graves Park

Join the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup and Harpswell Heritage Land Trust at Houghton Graves Park on Orr’s Island!

Families will enjoy playing in the woods and exploring the very short loop trail. We can go down to the muddy shoreline near the end, though the tide isn’t perfect for the mudflats.

The Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup is a free, parent-facilitated program that aims to provide a space for children to explore, learn, and interact outside. They meet every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at different locations in the Southern Midcoast region. Weekly adventures are typically posted in their Facebook group.

Families do not need to bring anything but themselves and appropriate attire based on location and weather. Shoes that can get wet and muddy and a spare set of clothes are recommended for this adventures, though families don’t have to visit the muddy shore if they don’t want to. We will meet rain or shine!

Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup is partnering with Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, Harpswell Heritage Land Trust, Kennebec Estuary Land Trust, Cathance River Education Alliance, Growing to Give, and the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center to offer nature-based activities and exploration. Each week a different one of these organizations will host the activity portion of the gathering.
