Ice Lanterns and Medallions at Mitchell Field with the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup
Join Harpswell Heritage Land Trust and the Southern Midcoast Forest Playgroup to make ice lanterns and medallions at Mitchell Field. We will go for a short walk to gather natural materials and then begin creation of lanterns and medallions. You will add water and set them outside to freeze after you head home. This is a simple project so there will be time to play as well. Depending on the weather, we’ll play on the beach or in the field or forest.
It would be helpful for families to bring a quart-sized plastic container (yogurt, etc.) and/or a metal, aluminum, or plastic pie plate to make sure we have enough materials. HHLT will provide additional materials for the project.
The Forest Playgroup is parent-facilitated program that aims to provide a space for young children to explore, learn and interact outside. For more information, check out their Facebook group.
