Island Tour Series: Birch Island
This program filled in record time. Please email Phil Croteau at programs@hhltmaine.org to join the waitlist.
In collaboration with Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT), we will be visiting the recently opened trail on the Helen and Walter Norton Preserve on Birch Island. HHLT opened the preserve in 2016 and a trail was constructed last summer. Participants are welcome to hike the new trail, explore the island’s rocky shoreline, or even take a dip in Middle Bay.
Participants will be shuttled a short distance to and from the island via Mitchell Field. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch to enjoy while on the island. Participants should be reasonably comfortable getting on and off small boats. Please wear shoes that you wouldn’t mind getting wet or muddy.
