Winter Solstice Lantern Walk
Registration is full for this event. If you’d like to be added to the waitlist, please email Julia McLeod at director@hhltmaine.org.
Celebrate the winter solstice with a lantern walk and bonfire. Welcome the lengthening days with light, song, sweets and community. Walk along a short, easy trail lined with lanterns and light installations. You are encouraged to bring a lantern to carry. At the end of the trail, warm up with songs, fire, hot cocoa and sweet treats.
All are welcome at this free, family-friendly event. Advance registration is required.
You are welcome to show up at any time during the event. The lantern walk is self-guided. There will be cocoa, snacks and campfires for the whole time. Live music by Stan Davis will happen from 5:30-6 p.m.
Bring warm clothes, a flashlight, your lantern, and a travel mug for your cocoa (to help us use fewer disposable cups). We will provide battery-powered lights to place in your lanterns.
This event is co-sponsored by the Harpswell Community School PTO. Fourth graders at Harpswell Community School and all students at Harpswell Community Nursery School will make lanterns during school.
