Our Environment

Harpswell Heritage Land Trust (HHLT) strives to be a community conservation resource for our community.  We celebrate Harpswell’s natural and cultural heritage, and we provide information to educate and engage people of all ages and inspire them to take action to protect our environment.

In 2017, HHLT launched the Our Environment section of our website.  More topics will be added over time.

For now, you can explore the following topics:

Nature Notes:  Engaging and informative articles about local animals and plants.

Harpswell Nature Watchers:  Advice, observations and inspiration for nature watchers.

Harpswell Invasive Plant Partnership:  A collaborative effort to address the threats posed by invasive plants.

Harpswell’s Habitats:  We have started to post and will continue to add articles describing Harpswell’s interesting natural habitats.

Native Plants:  Simple actions you can take on your own property to support local wildlife.

Harpswell’s Fisheries:  A series of articles about the fisheries Harpswell fishermen depend on.

Community and School Garden Fund:  Harpswell Heritage Land Trust manages a fund to support community and school gardening in Harpswell. Local community groups and schools are invited to apply for funding each year.
