Nature Day Camp Announcement 2025

Harpswell Heritage Land Trust
February 3, 2025

After careful consideration by both staff and the Board of Trustees, Harpswell Heritage Land Trust has made the difficult decision to pause its Nature Day Camp program in 2025. We apologize to campers and their families, and we share in your disappointment. Nature Day Camp has been an important part of our identity at HHLT since it started in the 1990s and it will be hard to spend a year away from our campers.

The land trust is in a time of transition and is currently seeking a new Director of Programs to lead its public programming, school programs and camp. We want to treat our Nature Day Camp with the care and focus it deserves, and don’t feel that we can do that until we’ve hired a new team member.

While we are sorry to take a year off from camp, we are using this time to look ahead to 2026. We plan to reinvigorate our camp program and create new activities with an increased focus on learning about the Maine Coast.

During this hiatus, we will offer alternative programming for children and families this summer. We will continue to post updates about our summer programs and plans for 2026, so be sure to check our website, social media and join our general email list.

Thank you for your support and understanding. If you have any questions, please contact Executive Director Matt Newberg at (207) 721-1121 or matt@hhltmaine.org.  We hope to see you on the trails or at an event!
