Birding Tour with Nat Wheelwright
Visit Otter Brook Preserve to listen for and spot spring migrants with Nat Wheelwright, Bowdoin Biology Professor Emeritus. Spring is a wonderful time for birding as the migrants return and males begin to sing in earnest, defending their territories and attracting mates. We’ll see how many birds we can identify using our eyes and ears. With practice, it is easy to learn to recognize different species and even individual birds by their distinctive songs.
Nat Wheelwright, Bowdoin Biology Professor Emeritus, Harpswell resident, and co-author of The Naturalist’s Notebook, will lead this field trip. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking and bring binoculars, if you have (or can borrow) them. Space for this program is limited and advance registration is required.
