Birding Tour with Nat Wheelwright

Visit Otter Brook Preserve to listen for and spot spring migrants with Nat Wheelwright, Bowdoin Biology Professor Emeritus. Spring is a wonderful time for birding as the migrants return and males begin to sing in earnest, defending their territories and attracting mates. We’ll see how many birds we can identify using our eyes and ears. With practice, it is easy to learn to recognize different species and even individual birds by their distinctive songs.

Nat Wheelwright, Bowdoin Biology Professor Emeritus, Harpswell resident, and co-author of The Naturalist’s Notebook, will lead this field trip. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking and bring binoculars, if you have (or can borrow) them. Advance registration is required.

A Note About Registration:

In past years our Spring Birding Events have been very popular and have had long waitlists. This year we are trying a new system where everyone can pre-register and select as many of the three events as they are available for. This pre-registration form will be open April 10-17, after which we will fill the spots with the hope that everyone will be able to attend at least one event.  We will reach out to everyone via email to let them know of their spot by April 24. Thank you all for your patience as we try this new system!

Pre-registration for this event closed on April 18. Contact Lindy at lindy@hhltmaine.org to be added to the waitlist.
