Day 50: Finding joy in nature this summer and a nature riddle

Harpswell Heritage Land Trust
May 29, 2020

Outdoor activity ideas and inspiration

From mid-March to the end of May 2020, Harpswell Heritage Land Trust (HHLT) posted a simple outdoor activity idea and nature riddle for kids every weekday. Some days we also posted other resources, like downloadable chapters of the Junior Ranger Activity Book.

Created to support parents who found themselves homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic, these activity ideas are a great jumping off point for any outdoor adventure. Click here for a list with links to all 50 activity ideas.

Nature riddle

Finding joy in nature this summer

As summer vacation approaches, we transition from the ups and downs of homeschooling to other joys and challenges. As my family looks ahead to summer, we know we’ll spend a lot of time outdoors. We’ll try to stay positive, active, curious, caring and patient despite the upheaval we are experiencing in our lives. We’ll try to focus on the small joys of life—a good climbing tree, a laugh, cool water to swim in, a game, a run, a bike ride, good food and interactions with family and friends (even if different than in the past). We won’t be perfect, but we’ll do our best. I wish you a healthy, happy summer with hearty doses of discovery and joy.

This is my last outdoor activity idea post for now. You can always come back to these 50 ideas over the summer and into the fall. We are pondering other ways to stay engaged with you. We’ll be in touch.

Yours,
