What if the weather is bad?
Camp will run rain or shine. If there are thunderstorms or heavy rain in the forecast, we may change our location for the day. We will let you know via email the night before if we plan to change camp locations.

Where does Rescue Rangers Camp take place?
Rescue Rangers Camp is held at a different location each day in Harpswell, Maine. These preserves and trails provide rich, varied, interesting, and fun places for campers to explore. These sites are rustic and most do not have enclosed spaces or bathroom facilities. Each day we bring a shade tent and a portable bathroom tent and folding toilet. Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children at each site. We will send you a schedule of locations before camp starts.
Camp locations change each year (though not entirely) and include five of the following fantastic Harpswell preserves and trails!
- Curtis Farm Preserve
- Devil’s Back Trails
- Hackett and Minot Trails
- Houghton Graves Park
- Johnson Field Preserve
- Mitchell Field
- Otter Brook Preserve
- Potts Point Preserve
- Bowdoin’s Schiller Coastal Studies Center
- Skolfield Shores Preserve
- Stover’s Point Preserve
You will get an email a week prior to camp outlining the locations for the week.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you give us at least three weeks notice of your cancellation, we will refund your camp fee minus a $25 deposit. We do not typically offer refunds with less than three weeks notice, unless you are able to fill the spot with another camper.
Do you have a waiting list?
When camp sessions fill, we start a first-come, first-served waiting list. When camp spots become available, we start at the top of the list to find someone to fill the spot.
What should I pack for my child?
Your child should bring:
- A packed lunch and snacks
- A refillable water bottle
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- Closed-toe shoes
- A backpack for personal items
Any other needs will be communicated in the prep email you receive prior to camp.
What types of activities will my child participate in?
At Rescue Rangers: First Aid & Survival Skills Camp, campers dive into the essentials of wilderness safety through engaging, hands-on experiences. They’ll respond to
realistic first aid scenarios, navigate interactive survival games, and take on group challenges that test their teamwork and critical thinking. Along the way, they’ll
assemble their own first aid kits, interview local first responders, and bring their learning to life in a final skit presentation. It’s an immersive, empowering week
designed to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a deep connection to the outdoors.
Can I stay after camp to play or have a picnic?
Yes! All camp locations are open to the public. You are always welcome to stay after camp ends.
What qualifications do the camp leaders have to teach this?
Courtney is a Wilderness EMT and SOLO First Aid medical instructor with over 20 years experience as an experiential educator. Read her bio on the main camp page.
